About Lisa Jo Smith

 

Lisa Jo Smith, CADDCT, CMDCP, CDP, ADC has worked in long term care for over 31 years. She began her career as a Certified Nurse Aide in 1993 after training at Cedarville College in Ohio. She then switched gears, and entered the Activity Profession, first as an Activity Assistant Certified before becoming an Activity Director Certified, completing the Modular Education for Activity Professionals in 2006. She has spent much of her career working within the Alzheimer's/Dementia Unit at Lapeer County Medical Care Facility. She completed the Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia Care Seminar in December 2016, and obtained her Certified Dementia Practitioner certification in January 2017. She completed the CADDCT seminar in June 2017 to become a Certified Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia Care Trainer through NCCDP. She received the credential of Certified Montessori Dementia Care Professional in February 2020. It is her desire to pass along knowledge to help others who care for individuals with cognitive impairment. Holding the four certifications, (ADC, CMDCP, CDP, CADDCT), she currently provides dementia education training to the staff and educational support groups for families at Lapeer County Medical Care Facility in Lapeer, Michigan.

Lisa is certified to teach the Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia Care Seminar. This class is required to apply for the Certified Dementia Practitioner certification through the National Council of Dementia Practitioners. Learning with Lisa Jo was created in June 2017.
